Traveling from Casablanca Airport to Marrakech is straightforward once you understand one crucial fact: there is no direct airport train to Marrakech. The reliable rail route is Mohammed V Airport station to Casa-Voyageurs, then a separate intercity train to Marrakech. A private road transfer is simpler door to door, but usually costs far more.

Quick answer

For most daytime arrivals, take the airport train from beneath Terminal 1 to Casa-Voyageurs, then connect to an ONCF train for Marrakech. Allow a generous buffer for immigration, baggage and the connection. If you land after the airport railway has stopped, travel with young children or carry difficult luggage, a pre-arranged transfer may be the more practical choice.

Option 1: train via Casa-Voyageurs

Step 1: find the airport railway station

The station is in the basement of Terminal 1 and connects directly with the airport concourse. Follow the rail signs after leaving arrivals. Do not take a city taxi simply to reach a station: the airport already has one.

Step 2: travel to Casa-Voyageurs

Take the airport train toward Casablanca and get off at Casa-Voyageurs. The airport authority states that this section takes about 30 minutes. Services generally operate during the day and evening, but times change; check the live ONCF timetable for your date.

Step 3: connect for Marrakech

At Casa-Voyageurs, follow the departure screens for Marrakech. Check the train number and platform rather than relying only on the departure time. Keep enough time to move between platforms, buy or validate the onward ticket and handle a possible delay.

Step 4: arrive in Marrakech

Marrakech railway station is in the modern Gueliz area, not inside the medina. Use a metered petit taxi where available or arrange a meeting point with your riad. Cars cannot reach many medina doors, so confirm the closest accessible gate.

How much connection time should you allow?

Do not book the tightest possible train. Flight delays, passport control and baggage delivery are unpredictable. A buffer of roughly two hours between scheduled landing and an onward departure is more comfortable; increase it for checked luggage, mobility needs or peak travel periods. If the ticket conditions are restrictive, flexibility may be more valuable than a small advance discount.

Can you buy one ticket?

Search the complete journey on the official ONCF platform first. Availability and ticketing flow can change. If the airport desk sells only the Casablanca segment, buy Airport–Casa-Voyageurs there and the Marrakech segment separately online or at Casa-Voyageurs. Keep both station names visible: Casablanca has several rail stations, and Casa-Port is not the connection you want for this route.

Option 2: direct private transfer

A private car travels directly from the airport to Marrakech by road. It makes sense for a group sharing the cost, late-night arrivals, small children, substantial luggage or travelers who value door-to-door simplicity. Confirm the total price, meeting point, vehicle size, tolls and cancellation conditions in writing before arrival.

A transfer to “Marrakech medina” may still end at a gate if your accommodation is in a pedestrian lane. Ask your riad for the correct drop-off point and whether someone will meet you.

Option 3: bus or overnight stop

Long-distance coaches can work, but they normally require reaching a Casablanca coach station first, adding another transfer. For most airport arrivals, rail is easier. If your flight lands very late, one night near the airport or in Casablanca may be safer and less exhausting than improvising a long road journey after midnight.

Train or transfer: which should you choose?

Choose the train when Choose a transfer when
You arrive during operating hours You arrive after rail service
You travel light You have children or heavy luggage
Budget matters Door-to-door ease matters
You can allow a connection buffer Your group can share the cost
